Interview with Afrodijah at UGK Central:
1. What’s good with the UGK fam, and how’s everything going since Pimp past away?
It’s been rough. His family is heartbroken because of the sudden tragedy and everyone is just trying to keep pushing forward, the way Pimp would want us to. He did big things when he was living because he wanted to be remembered. Everyone is working to keep his name alive and remember him the way he wanted to be remembered; a real person.
2. Can you tell us more about the UGK Central and its future plans?
UGK Central was created in June 2007. Our goal is to bring together everything UGK related, whether it’s a UGK related business, artists who are inspired by UGK, or people who simply enjoy UGK’s music. We’re building a network of websites; a UGK headquarters. Pimp wanted to make it easy for everyone, world wide, to find info on UGK. Pimp was more tech savvy than you might think. He really enjoyed his gadgets!
3. Some of us dont know about UGK Central’s social network… can you tell us why did Pimp C want a social network and what was his vision about this project?
When Pimp got out of prison, he got online and began to pick up on everything so quickly! He joined Myspace and realized that there could be some improvements. He wanted a more polished looking social network, that’s why he told people he was going to make his own “flyspace” and that’s what we’re currently working on. We aren’t giving up on his dreams.
4. When can we expect to see the network online?
UGK Central is currently building a database of artists and UGK fans. It’s our goal to reach platinum status, 1 million friends on our list. Then we will send out a bulletin letting everyone know that the network is ready to be published online!
5. How was it working with Pimp and being around him, what kinda dude was he?
Alot of people claim that they’re the “truth” but Pimp C is the truth!! In an industry that’s full of illusions, Pimp C shined through because he was the truth. He was our star.
6. Will there be an album with unheard/unreleased Pimp C songs?
UGK Records is Pimp’s company. He was also still under contract with Jive. As far as I know, Jive owns most of his material so it would be up to Jive to release an album.
7. Where can people find more info about the UGK Central, or better say… do you have a website or a myspace page?
Right now we’re working on building up our network on Myspace. To make it simple and easy to find, go to UGKFans.com and it will take you to my page. Send a friend request and you will be accepted.
8. Thanks youfor your time, much success in the future : )
Thank you. Pimp C was the type of person, if you loved him, he loved you back! He was online accepting friend requests and chatting with people, he was a genuine person. It’s our goal to carry on his legacy. When he was in prison he said that Chad Butler was locked up but Pimp C was still free, in that case RIP Chad Butler, Long Live Pimp C, the underground king of the south!
Peace,
Afrodijah at UGK Central!
